Felting Workshop with Fiona Whyte
The talented artist and crafter Fiona Whyte from These Hands Made It has prepared an intensive and creative felt making course at our Lugar da Pedra Alta from May 7th to May 14th
Are you interested in making your own fabric? Of the colour and weight YOU want? In a design that you want? A fabric that can be 2 dimensional covering or shaped and coaxed and trained to be a 3 dimensional piece without the use of a sewing machine or a pattern or glue or complicated rules? Then this beginner to intermediate felt making course is what you are looking for!
"I began felting 8 years ago after writing an article about the faded textile industry in Portugal: I visited a disused wool factory and met some inspiring felt and fibre artists.
Some of them were keeping the skills alive and others were challenging the possibilities of a humble fibre. Have I piqued your interest?

The week will be filled with a lot of knowledge, hands on felting making, a visit to CERVAS - Centro de Ecologia, Recuperação e Vigilância de Animais Selvagens and a wool factory, good food and wonderful company!

The Hauted House
Because we had such great success with our haunted house last year, we decided to come back and scare you again, but now with other ideas and challenges!
Since the atmosphere of our historic house makes you think of stories, mysteries, hidden artifacts and sometimes scary things, and because it has a history behind it for more than a century, we thought at offering you a more special tour on the night of 31st October at Lugar da Pedra Alta!
Attention! If you are among those people who are afraid of their own shadow, it is better not to risk it!
The night will start with a delicious vegetarian goulash dinner made by our cook, Chris and will end with sweet Halloween treats.
Then we will continue with the haunted house tour first for the kids and then the more "hardcore" tour for the adults There will also be a silent film screening and lots of fun!
